HEMMOOR. Thecity council had wanted to organize an event for Hemmoor residents on the new town hall square and found an experienced event organizer in the Culturkreis team. Thus, on Saturday, the first “Open Air at City Hall” kicked off under the motto “Free & Outdoors” with the Pur cover band “Abenteuerland.” Shortly before the opening act, the young Stade-based trio “Dreiklangzelt,” took the stage on Town Hall Square, a heavy thunderstorm passed, allowing visitors to the increasingly crowded Town Hall Square to enjoy the “Open Air at City Hall” event in the dry for the rest of the evening.

“It was absolutely packed, and the crowd partied hard but peacefully,” said Birte Zöllner, chairwoman of the Hemmoor Cultural Circle, with delight. By the time the Pur cover band “Abenteuerland” took the stage, up to 1,000 people had already gathered on Rathausplatz. The five musicians from Braunschweig treated the concertgoers to a show lasting over two and a half hours, including several enthusiastically demanded encores. Whether it was “Lena,” “Funkelperlenaugen,” or “Drachen sollen fliegen”—the band, led by their energetic and charismatic singer Carsten Siebert, had the full range of Pur hits in their repertoire. Not only were the numerous listeners blown away by the first “Open Air at City Hall,” but Hemmoor’s City Manager Dirk Brauer was also thrilled and, following this promising premiere, is naturally hoping for a continuation of the “Free & Outdoors” concept.

Since a club obviously can’t manage this on its own, it relies on support. “We need to sit down together and take stock. In any case, the willingness of many visitors to donate was definitely positive,” Birte Zöllner told our newspaper.
